WELCOME TO
Dublin Texas
"IRISH CAPITAL OF TEXAS"
About Dublin...
Dublin, Texas is located at the busy intersection of Highway 67/377 and Highway 6 in Erath County. It is a community steeped in colorful history with a strong tourism component.
Like most rural Texas communities, Dublin is home to several businesses which can boast of being more than 100 years old including Higginbothams, Dublin National Bank and Dublin Bottling Works. Its economic viability is strengthened by its many mom and pop enterprises and small industries, many of which are agriculture-based.
In 1997, forward-thinking residents saw the need for a local governmental body which could help retain or expand existing businesses and assist in bringing other entrepreneurs to town. So they approved the measure which created the Dublin Economic Development Corporation and financed with a one-half cent sales tax collected by the state and rebated to the city for economic development under state guidelines.

The Dublin EDC is a 4B non-profit group which operates under budget and director approval of the Dublin City Council. The DEDC makes grants and loans which encourage business façade improvements, beautification and clean up, historic preservation and other projects which benefit the community or help enhance community growth through job creation and retention.
The operations of the board are overseen by a seven-member board which represents a diverse business background. The board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Dublin EDC office at 104 S. Patrick St. Meeting agendas are posted at Dublin City Hall and at the EDC office and meetings are open to the public, except as posted for executive session.
